Chevrolet have confirmed they will add a small compact off-roader to it’s line up, to rival the popular Nissan Juke.
The new car will make its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September and goes on sale in 2013.
Details of this car were brought to you in our previous blog (link below), although the Aveo SUV name has been ditched in favour of the Trax name, which some of you may remember from the concept SUV model from 2007.
Based on Chevrolet’s’ sister brand model the Vauxhall Mokka, the trax is bigger than the Juke and is more similar in size to the Nissan Qashqai, and Peugeot’s mid-sized 3008 crossover.
The Trax’s engine line-up is likely to be shared with the Vauxhall Mokka. That means a 113bhp 1.6-litre petrol, a 138bhp 1.4-litre petrol turbo and a 128bhp 1.7-litre turbo diesel will be available from launch. Although details of what engines coming the UK have yet to be confirmed.
The more powerful of the two engine’s the 1.4 litre turbo petrol and the 1.7 litre turbo diesel, will be fitted with a 6 speed manual gearbox, automatic transmission will be an option.
The Trax should be available in both 2WD and 4WD, although low ground clearance means you probably wont be scaling any mountains anytime soon, 4WD is more likely to come in handy on a snowy morning commute to work or the shops.
As mentioned above Chevrolet have yet to confirm engine line-up and specification that will feature in the UK with Trax, although more information should come nearer the rumoured 2013 launch.
Price wise the Trax should undercut the Vauxhall Mokka’s rumoured starting price of £15,000.
