We short listed and then reviewed & test drove Honda, Hyundai, Kia & Chevvy. Best 'all round' including 'bang for buck' for us was the Captiva. We plan to travel UK extensively seeing all those places never had time for when working. So far enjoying the Captiva hoping it stays that way.
Aussie Ed

Is your driving style ok with a good "blast" at high speed/high revs on approx weekly basis. The glory of diesel particulate filters!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take it to the dealer for the sat-nav problem, but if it is just an oil change, ask national tyres to do oil only, no filter.. my lot here do it for me, cheaper than oil and filter change.

Edited by Oldroverboy - 7 hours 26 minutes ago at 10:34pm

I think sometimes that my experience has made me a real doubting thomas about cars. Chevrolets still farely rare here, so quite like it.

Then the Sat nav sometimes comes up with a GPS round sign with a red line through, but clears itself. Then today started to work in kilometres not miles and the height of map being looked at given in metres not the peculiar yard measurement it was using, tried to find out how to reset but it suddendly reverted back. Then at times put foot on accelerator and it just sits not wanting to go its as if the compressor has to speed up also I sound like a bus with a whistle. The other funny was a conversation with Quick Fit as its a Motability Car which as a car is ideal for our use, but the car developed a slow puncture, took it in to be fixed, the fitter said new tyre needed as it had a nail in and it was in a position on the tyre that they could not repair they looked on their computer for a new tyre and they had non in stock as its an 18 inch tyre so they repaired it ????? does this mean they are selling tyres that are not needed and a repair would work, it makes you wonder.

You havent really given enough info to work out your MPG, as OldRoverboy says, you need to fill, drive log the miles driven and refill to see how much fuel you burnt to do those miles to get a consumption figure. You need to do this over and over to get a more accurate picture as your driving style will change each trip. One thing I would say though is to fill the car past the click, right up till you see the fuel in the pipe, and do that again. The reason for this is to overcome different pumps clicking at different times. Visually seeing the fuel is the only way to actually guarantee how much you put in and how much was used.

Right.. got to go now, the wife has just sat down without making me a cuppa.... women these days

.... she saw me write that last bit....

Edited by K.L.Richards - 10 hours 51 minutes ago at 7:09pm

However, Newbie welcome , if somebody hasn't said it and if you think you are getting 29mpg be happy, but do the fill, zero fill bit. If you like the car it doesn't matter. Can you give some advice?
