The Volt is not just a new car. It’s the first electric car that actually creates its own electricity, thereby extending its range to over 370 miles.
Named 2011 North American Car of the Year, the Volt is the first electric car to win such a prestigious award, beating off fellow electric and hybrid car finalists, the Nissan Leaf and the Hyundai Sonata.
The Volt has won other prestigious awards and accolades, among which are:
AUTOMOBILE Magazine 2011 Automobile of the Year
Motor Trend 2011 Car of the Year
Green Car Journal 2011 Green Car of the Year
In Europe, the Volt has already picked up Austria’s “Automobil-Preis” award in the category Environment from Austria’s leading roadside assistance institution, ARBÖ.
Much-awaited, the Chevrolet Volt will go on sale later this year in Europe. Numbers will be limited and public interest is high.
