Once you get your DPF sorted, I would get the engine oil and filter changed. (As Ed mentioned about diesel going into the oil during re-gens) I also highly recommend putting millers eclipse diesel additive at every refuel (eBay ÂŁ24 for litre bottle, add only 1ml per litre of fuel so 60ml for a 60litre tank, cheaper than ÂŁ5-6 one shot bottles)I've used it for dozens of refuels and has not been doing the regens as much.
Also I avoid supermarket diesel as I once had to fill up with it and had no additive with me to add in the tank, dpf light came on after 150 or so miles.
The warning signs are :-
cooling fans running when you stop - ASAP, take car for a good drive at 60mph in 4th gear for 15-20 mins, keep revs between 2500 - 3000 for the re-gen to be successful
If ignored the DPF light will come on, if further ignored it will flash...I've only had this happen once and immediately drove to a nearby dual carriageway to give it a blast, the light went off after 15mins.
I'm guessing if the light is ignored, then it will go into limp modeEdited by: Kev82chev
