had the epica diesel serviced today. service £55 + vat inc brake fluid change .. ok oil was£77 + vat 0w40 as required by chevrolet 2nd year service oil filter, air filter precautionary diesel fuel filter (my request.)cost about £217 total inc vat. also watched part of service being done from viewing area.
Watch out Castrol 5-30 is graded as A1 which it means its an oil for economy engines. I may be wrong as I have only just bought a Captiva but I thought that Chevrolets would use A3 or A5 graded 5-30 oil.
Mine actually had mobil 1 (GM dexos 2) 0w 40 in its service 6.2 litres at £11 a litre +vat as invoiced by dealer Epica specifies 0w30 or 0w40 as per GM oil spec in handbook but GM 's own oil is 5w30 dexos 2. don't know what the captiva uses, although it is the same engine as the epica.
I have heard that Chevrolet recommend that garages use dexos 2 rated oil in their engines, however it must be pointed out that the diesel engine used in Captivas etc is not a GM designed Vauhall engine but is a Fiat inspired VM engine, built under licence in Korea. However on saying that Mobil 1 is excellent.
