Just bought a 2011 Captiva but can't figure out how to set/calibrate the compass. It shows I'm always going North...

How do I calibrate the compass ?

Many thanks,
David

Compass Calibration

The compass can be calibrated following the procedure

below:

1. Press the MODE and SET button simultaneously

for more than two seconds, the compass display

flashes.

2. Drive the vehicle around slowly for 360o within

90 seconds. Or alternatively, drive the vehicle as

shown in the picture, above.

3. When the calibration is finished, the compass

display does not flash anymore.

When the calibration procedure is not completed

the compass will not function
correctly.
Hope that helps

Good answer Iain. Whathappens to all the manuals that come with these cars orginally.

I am starting to belive that there are 'fairies' who steal these and leave new owners totally perplexed as to how to operate their vehicles. Great shame the dealers dont do better job for the buyer in ensuring manuals are handed over.

This didn't come from the manual, it came from the South African Dealer brief- yes really! I found it through Google.
