The green foot symbol is to tell youthat you have to press the foot brake to take the gear shiftlock off so as to enable to shift out of the park position. [for safety and security reasons] If putting your foot on the brake malfunctions there is a little cover/flap marked shift lock releaseto the left of the gear shift, remove that and put your key in the slot and that alsotakes the look off. So if you do not have to apply the brake to get out of park somebody has left something in the slot disabling it?
If you do have to put your foot on the brake to get out of park then the symbol is self explanatory.
Guys,,from what I understand just in case the brake switch to unlock the park gear malfunction can we temporary bypass the shift release unlock? just to send our car to the nearest service center or in safe place location to do the repair.
