Hi all my dad and I are at a loss.
We own a Chevrolet Captiva 58 plate Desiel and the front and rear washers are not working, the fuse is all okayy and the headlight washers are working just fine, the wipers also work just fine, it's just the washers giving us greif does anyone have any ideas?
(Sorry if we sound stupid this is the newest car we've owned we normally have old cars 馃槄)

There are normally two washer pumps. Check if both are working (listen for pumps working). Possible causes include corroded electrical connection, blown connection on water feed pipework (check for water under the vehicle after activating), failed diaphragm, plus other possibilities.
Lots more reading in the existing discussions available via the Back Index under numerous different Topic titles.
You can explore using the search function. I've typed in 'Failed screen washer' which provides the following listings :- Search results for query: failed screen washer

Good Luck in finding cause & solution.

I believe that there is single pump for both front and rear wipers, don't know for sure.
check the fuse box in the engine bay, there are relays for the washers there.

DMX, You could be correct on the Series 1 with only one pump. Possibly the Series 2 has two pumps (I have 'two' in my mind from somewhere).
Rear washer not providing water can sometimes be a 'blown' connector in the roof line water feed or the body shell side trim to the rear window. If the connector 'parts' the water can end up in the boot void and sometimes damages the electrics in the tailgate. Only start pulling the trim panelling off if all other possibilities have been exhausted.

Hi, i have a 2.0ld 59plate ltx. I stripped out my water bottle as my front and rear washers weren't working and head lamp washer was. There are 3 separate pumps. When you remove the 2 front and rear washer pumps, you will find a rubber seal which acts as a filter, mines twice have choked up and had to be cleaned. Then vola washers working again. (y)

Helpful info Gazza. The question is what was the filter blocked up with; lime scale or dead bit of leaves or spiders from the watering can?
I live in a hard water area and only ever use demineralised water and have done for years in all my vehicles. Never had a blocked filter or washer jet in over 20 years.

Gazza, Just a tip. If you complete your vehicle details in your Signature Footer (similar to mine below) it will avoid the need for you giving your vehicle details each time you post as it will appear automatically. Also better if you state the year. As a World wide Forum '59 plate' means very little to our audience outside of UK.

Cheers aussie ed (y) still learning navigation around this cool forum. It looked like black slime, no idea how it gets there. Prob stagnant water at bottom of bottle which doesnt get used as pumps dont reach the bottom. 20200927_141633.jpg 20200927_140845.jpg

DMX, Your vehicle is a Series 2 whereas Gazza's is Series 1 so there could be different location. I'm fairly sure your question has been asked before so using the Forum Search function is worth trying. Also have you done simple checks first, ie listen to hear if the pump is working or not. If it is working then the problem may well be a 'blown' water tube connector which has been reported over and over again.
