My question is I only have one key, the dealer says once I buy a new key, it must be matched to the car by the dealer. This adds quite a bit to cost of an already expensive key. I had a Peugeot 407 with imobiliser and didn't have to have the dealer match it the car did it itself. Does the dealer have to do it?

Bguy, Welcome. GM keys usually have to be programmed by dealer - or - some major branches of Timpsons can provide this service. There is more about this on the 'search' tab.It is my personal opinion that all vehicles should be provided with two keys so why should you have to buy the second key? You should push your dealer to cover the cost. The other question is who still has the other key?? Will you find you car gone one day!

Does your car (or possibly Household) insurance cover lost keys? Just a thought.
