Can the passenger airbag on chevrolet matiz 09 model be deactivated?
Unfortunately I dont have a copy of the 2009 Matiz Owners Handbook. If you have the Owners Handbook check to see what it states.
According to my online check it says - No! (https://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100617142013AAzWL5Y)

Jasta, There is a severe safety issue with certain designs of child safety seat/crib which can present a risk from 'Active' front airbag.
More recent vehicle builds now incorporate a 'deactivate mode' usually in the A frame pillar or glove box to cater for this.
Personally I would use the rear seating for child seat anyway.

"Child occupant A rearward-facing childseat should not be placed in the front passenger's seat as there is no way to deactivate the airbag in that seating position. The labels warning against doing this did meet Euro NCAP's requirements. The ISOFIX anchorages in the rear outboard seats were not sufficiently well marked to meet Euro NCAP's requirements"

From the Euro NCAP 2005 Matiz report.
