hi all
i have a captiva ltx 08 reg. does any one no how to turn the fear sensors off when towing as this is annoying when you put it in reverse and it picks the caravan up. i do belive it cannot be done and is a design fault. i have spoke to a tow bar specialist and they say it is impossible to fit a switch to turn it off as there is a sealed electric unit fitted.

thre mustbe caravaners with the same problem amongst us,

thanks

foxy

hi foxy,
im also a fellow caravanner i have a 08 reg captiva ltx but ive not had a towbar fitted yet i was looking to fit it my self and i was lead to believe by fitting a dedicated electric kit not a universal one this would turn off the parking sensors and fog light to the car when connected to the caravan but i dont really know i think i will have to look into it more.

Hi to you both,
I have a 2010 LTZ with what should be Chevrolet towbar electrics fitted, and I get the "beep on reverse" when reversing with a caravan attached. Queried this with dealer and they came back with the comment that that was correct. Strange because my Vauxhall Vectra with GM towbar electrics behaved itself quietly when reversing a caravan.

Any chance, if it's not to complicated of writing some simple instructions and posting it in here so that we can all learn?

The module described above is not the sensor module, but the sounder for the system. The module is behind the driver's side rear wheel cover trim (inside the boot). If you look underneath the car at the rear, just behind the driver's rear wheel there is a gromitt through which the wiring from the sensors in the bumper passes to the unit.

No idea! Mine is the 2008 model and has the buzzer as described above. I'm surprised if it's been relocated as the cars, apart from the front panels and the engine, are identical.
Maybe someone with access to the 2012 model TIS manual could help here?Edited by: bigiainw
