I suppose it all depends if the car is under warranty - if it is then no problem, as long as you've not broken it by doing something other than you should have done then get it sorted under the warranty conditions.
If it's out of warranty or you broke it by using it as a shelf (it's just a cover and not designed to carry weight) then just buy a new one, or do without it.
