My 61 plate LTZ does the same (rattling sound) when the
ambient air temp is above 18 degrees. When I took it for first service the
dealer reckoned the noise was coming from the turbo / control valve both of
which were changed. Dealer recons noise has gone won't know for sure until we
have another warm day.
I have only had my captiva for a month , had 25000 miles on diesel auto . The day I collected I noticed noise almost like brakes rubbing .took it back couple of times to eden reading . They were very helpful , unfortunately no noise . So left it with them and good news they got the noise . Replacement turbo , had it back now for 4 days and so far no noise.
