Why is it so **** expensive for these cars ??

I never noticed it, as it was bundle into the price of the car, until I had a replacement through from the DVLA when I put my personal plate on.

£580 for 12 months is twice as much as my old 3-litre Vx Signum I exchanged it for.

It's not high on the lists if things to look at when you bu a car, but **** !!

Jester, I suspect you are now into second year of registration - £270 is correct. For the first year reg they hit new owners hard - K band is £600

Had me worried for a minute with those rates. Just checked my log book and it is Co2 174/KM making it group H. £195 for a year !. Mine is a 2011 2.2 Lt, so perhaps better than the older varients.

Diydel, taxation depends on model. On the current models: 2.2 manual 163PS engine has Co2 of 164gms; the 2.2 Auto 184PS engine has a Co2 of 208gms. So in the case of latter the more powerfull engine plus the auto boxnudges the Co2 up into K band (£600 first year regn). Second year year is less.

Mk1 2.0 captiva diesel manual is 197 g/km, or £250 per year, up from £235 previously.
