Evening, New person to the forum but i have owned my 2013 Ltz captiva for a year now.

Having a bit of an issue which i could do with some advice over.
My issue is that both engine bay fans have stopped working which caused warning light two weeks ago in traffic. Thankfully car didn't overheat to extent of damage.

My problem has now been compounded by a local dealership who i had service the captiva to the tune of ÂŁ310. but worst of all they tell me that i have an aircon issue that started off a re gas and ended up with a quote of 700 to change the compressor. Air con issue was noted when they checked air con but failed to nite fan wasnt working.
Thats not the major issue, which has now bee. discovered that air con wasnt playing up before service and now due to re gas the system is so over pressurised that once compressor starts it shuts iff due to hitting 30 bar of pressure in system.
how can a main dealer mess up that bad?

is anyone able to let me know what fuses or relays are apllicable to both fans in engine bay as neither work. when it was being tested a relay could be heard switching when the technician was trying to engage fans.

thanks
aaron

I have two fuse boxes within the engine bay. The one at the front and the second towards the bulkhead.
The second only holds an 80amp fuse for the fans but this is in tact. The front one i thought held relays and fuses for the fans??

I have checked the 80amo fuse and thats fine. i believe the issue will be the fan control module set above both fans. this has been recalled on antaras in 2013 as it faulted and stops both fans running.
this logically can be the only other issue i can find.
but thanks to local dealership i wont be using them at all and i am going to make a formal complaint.
cant even accept that they have over pressurised the air con system and wont apologise.

That one shown is nothing like mine. its a bosch module Bosch 1137328617. mine is directly above the fans and is connected to both fans together.

I did check the fuse and relay bix closest to the bulkhead and only an 80amp fuse is fitted for the fans and this is intact. I can find no other fuses or relays there for this.

i have the captiva in with garage currently to have a 2nd re-gas to correct pressure this time hopefully.

well collected the captiva earlier. i was informed again it wasnt over pressurised at all and that the system was not working at all.
asked then did i want to book it to be put on computer and checked and order the compressor.

left and went to an independant garage. within 10 minutes i was told i was correct with fans not working and this would over pressurise the system. when checked left hand fan was not spinning correctly as it should. now just waiting for a price to rectify issue asap before holiday.

not only person complaining at dealership today, two customers also complained that they were not being listened to. first customer even said its like you want them on the computer all the time and it never fixes the issue.

the module fitted to the captiva is a standalone unit attached to radiator shroud and has it looks input blocks and two outputs one to each fan.
it was a recall back in 2013 and got re-programmed back 2014.
the cpu control the inputs with regards to % of power.
been told its 220 new for fans and module off the shelf.

Try contact them.https://www.bosch-repair-service.com/UK_en/Welcome.xhtml

But i believe that its cheaper and maybe possible to contact a third party repair business that does this kind of job, to be hone im surprised to see that bosch offered repairs on modules like abs, maybe they realize that every owner is going to have a defective module when the car becomes to be around 8-10 years old.
unfortunately i have tried and failed on their website. looking at their costs for a re-programme its marginally dearer to buy a whole new set.

This is the issue i have. your fuse boxes are different to mine. the three relay slots above the 80amp fuse are spares and void. i only hold fan relays within the box above the radiators themselves.
i have checked the main fuse box numerous times and have found nothing related to the fans.

Other than Eds and Victors help along with Pinkie's post, when you run the ventilation fan on low speed and the A/C switched on, do you hear any noises behind the vent flaps..?
Scouse you're correct the fuses i have are not the same as ed and victors. but i am thankful for all their help trying to sort the matter out. unfortunately the air con doesnt make any noises at all whilst running. its been deemed that the fans are the issue as the main engine fan doesnt run.
i have been quoted now 560 all in for new fans, control module and cowling. i believe that its a complete unit and the module bought together.

thank god i never went with vauxhall for the repairs. my bill would have been a fortune it would have had a compressor for ac unit fitted on top, even though its not needed.

On mine its twin fans near side is engine cooling and off side is ac.
Both are connected on cowling and run off one control module secured above both fans.
You are unable to purchase either fan seperately and or control module.

unfortunately i am stuck with having to sort the whole lot out together.
