Rear parking sensor continuous beep

My recently acquired Captiva had a parking sensor problem - so I replaced all 4

Now the 'P' amber light on the dash has gone, but slotting the gear in reverse I get one beep, followed by a continuous beep (at full volume!).

Has anyone had similar problems and what is the solution to this? Before anyone suggests, yes I have gone through most rear parking sensor threads for Captiva on this forum, but no one seems to come back and say, they did X, Y & Z and diagnosed the problem

Its driving me mad, I fear reversing!

Disconnect all sensors, make sure that connectors are clean and sound (no bent pin). Spray with WD40 and reconnect.

Autocrazy: Your World location is missing from your sign up. As a World Wide Forum it is helpful to know this due to different 'build' variations. Also vitally important to know which year/model variant etc you have so as to obtain specific applicable answer.

There was a post about three years ago that gave just about every explanation for every beep tone. The answer may be there.

You can add Location by going to Tools>Quicklinks>Edit Your Details. scroll and complete location.

Your vehicle info can be added so as to display automatically under your posts (example of mine below)
Go to Tools>Quicklinks>Edit Signature (Footer). They may be an exception to this apparently that some mobile devices crop this info off for some reason.

Hi AussieEd - Thanks for your reply - will have to ask my mechanic to remove the bumper and refit with as you mention clean and inspect the pints - he mentioned the wiring on one of them was cut, so he taped it, could that be the cause?

I tried several other posts, where people have posted the same problem as mine, but never replied back as resolved!

I have updated location and now have my vehicle in signaturesmile_big:

Is there a fuse I can remove in the mean time to stop the loud beep everytime I have to reverse, its unbearable!

i had similar issue on cruze. .. solution was - clean electrical contacts ... and it worked...you can try if sensors are ok.. resitance of my pins in working sensors:
R1 = 50 omh
R2 = 130 ohm
R3 = 180 ohm
Thanks will try this. What did you use to clean the contacts? WD40?

Why did you replace all four sensors?
You mention that you have one beep after replacement.
Did you have one beep before you replaced all sensors or different beep / sound?
Hi

I replaced all 4 sensors as it was not that expensive and the bumper was going to be taken off by my mechanic anyway. Before I had 6 beeps (so potentially only one sensor gone) and a parking error light on the instrument cluster

After replacement of all 4 sensors, the parking error light on the instrument cluster has disappeared. Now when slotted in to reverse it gives one very quick beep followed by a continuous tone (loud!)

I am thinking of getting the bumper off, cleaning all contacts and do a trial and error using combination of new and old sensors until I can eliminate the reverse beep. If all that does not work, it could be something else

I have seen some posts mention about short beep followed by continuous beep, asking for advice, but no one has reported back as to what they did to resolve their issue!

A loud noise could be cause by sensors beliveing that you have backed up close against something.
That is an obvious statement, except that it happens with nothing around it. The outside of the sensors have been cleaned well, so its not that

" I get one beep, followed by a continuous beep (at full volume!)."

Since you get one beep, have a look at the first sensor its connection and wiring.
Thanks, will do. I have discussed with mechanic to do a trial and error (After cleaning contacts) with abt 7 sensors I have now (4 new and 3 old) - will report when resolved!
